As a therapeutic health spa, we offer our patients traditional spa services as well as supplemental at-home remedies for common health conditions. Since a good night’s rest is so important to our overall wellness, we often recommend high quality essential oils for patients struggling with insomnia or other sleep-related conditions.

At Blue Creek, we use the Young Living Raindrop Kit as our essential oils to help you sleep due to their therapeutic properties (anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial/viral/fungal, anti-spasmodic and immune boosting); however, there are a lot of quality oils available. If you’re struggling with getting a good night’s rest, here is the beginner’s guide to learning about essential oils to help you sleep (and which ones to use).

How to Use Essential Oils To Help You Sleep

Depending on the oil, essential oils can be:

  • Diffused or spritzed aromatically – either with a diffuser or in a spray bottle (with water to dilute)
  • Massaged into the skin topically – mix essential oils with a carrier or base oil (like unrefined coconut oil)
  • Ingested internally – add to foods and drinks to experience healing from the inside out

It’s important to know which methods are recommended for which oils to ensure safety. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can lead to medical issues if used incorrectly (especially when ingested).

The oils you’ll find here recommended for sleep should be used externally—either aromatically or topically. Of course, consult with your physician before trying essential oils to help you sleep.
